SAFE VETERINARY CARE DURING COVID-19 OUTBREAK

The Royal College for Veterinary Surgeons and the British Veterinary Association have strongly advised that to comply with the Government’s social distancing measures, and to minimise the risk of spreading the virus to staff members and their clients, vet practices should only be conducting essential treatments and not undertaking routine services like worming and booster vaccinations.

We appreciate that this is unusual, but the following measures will help to ensure that Wyrebrooke Veterinary Clinic is acting responsibly and is complying with the advice from central Government.

THE FOLLOWING CHANGES APPLY WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

--- We are now operating a FREE, INITIAL REMOTE TRIAGE SERVICE on Mon, Wed, Thu & Fri, 9am to 5pm, by telephone, email or instant messaging services like Facebook Messenger, where we will ask you a short series of questions to determine the urgency of your pet’s case and advise whether we feel a full consultation is necessary.

--- If a full consultation is required this will preferably be performed by video (e.g. WhatsApp, Skype, FaceTime etc.) so that we can see the patient, but if this is not an option for you we will either conduct it over the telephone or advise you of other options.

--- Any new clients MUST register with us first for legal and compliance reasons. This can be done online or completed over the phone.

--- During the full consultation we will ask further questions specific to your pet’s case and where possible conduct a ‘virtual’ examination by video. We will provide tailored advice specific to your pet and if needed we will prescribe and supply any necessary medications (collection from our practice in a controlled manner, or delivered in a safe way to your home).

--- These remote, full consultations will be CHARGED AT A REDUCED RATE OF £25 and are to be paid for in advance. We will send a secure payment link to you via email, text message, WhatsApp, or social media messaging systems such as Facebook Messenger. This will allow you to pay instantly and securely online directly with our payment services provider, iZettle.

--- For cases where we determine that it is in the best interests of your pet to be physically examined, we have a strict distancing protocol that we will need you to follow. This will be discussed with you and if it’s not possible for you to adhere to this protocol we will provide further advice.

As you are aware, the situation regarding distancing is changing rapidly and we may need to update this service at short notice. Please follow our Facebook page and check back regularly for updates. Just because you follow our page doesn’t mean you will receive all our posts in your news feed. We will also try to update our website as frequently as possible.
